Ebonie and Emily’s wedding on Easter Sunday was all about simplicity, connection, and the power of choosing a moment that truly reflects who you are. Their ceremony took place on the banks of Loch Assynt, beside the striking ruins of Ardvreck Castle, a place full of history, atmosphere, and wild Highland beauty.

Ebonie first got in touch in the autumn, sending a warm and thoughtful message about a potential wedding in the Highlands. She and Emily, both from England, were drawn to the landscape and its sense of space and peace. They weren’t interested in anything religious or overly formal. What they wanted was something simple and legal, no fuss, just the outdoors and a beautiful backdrop. With some family connections in the Highlands and their engagement also taking place on the West Coast this seemed like the perfect continuation.

We chatted through the basics, andand after some deliberations about locations, they chose Ardvreck Castle for their spring ceremony. It turned out to be the perfect choice. Perched on a headland reaching into Loch Assynt, Ardvreck is a 16th-century fortress once home to Clan MacLeod. Now, its crumbling walls frame the landscape rather than defend it, making it a spectacular and poetic place for a wedding. Its rugged elegance, the sweep of water and hills behind it, and its sense of quiet endurance gave the perfect setting for their vows.

One especially touching moment came when Emily’s grandmother stood to share a few words of her own — a reflection on her 65 years of marriage. Her words, full of quiet wisdom, added a beautiful sense of perspective to the day, reminding everyone present that love isn’t just about the big gestures, but the small, everyday choices to show up for each other.

After their vows and the exchange of rings, they shared a short, joyful toast with bubbles by the water’s edge. The couple then headed off to explore the area and capture a few more moments in varous locations before continuing their celebrations.

Ebonie and Emily’s day was everything an outdoor Highland wedding should be — simple, meaningful, and entirely true to them. Ardvreck Castle, with its centuries-old stone and timeless view, bore witness to a modern love story that’s just as enduring. A pleasure and a privilege to be part of.

From the beginning, Ebonie and Emily were a delight to work with — relaxed, thoughtful, and excited. Easter was later than usual this year, and while it wasn’t exactly warm, we were relieved to find a calm, clear forecast for the day. We met in the small car park near the castle and walked down together for a late morning ceremony, hoping to find a moment of quiet before too many other visitors arrived. The chill in the air was definitely noticeable, but the joy of the moment kept everyone warm enough.

The ceremony itself was short and heartfelt. We stood beside the loch, the ruined castle rising just behind us. Surrounded by a small group of family and friends, Ebonie and Emily spoke their vows — promises rooted in teamwork, honesty, and the strong foundation they’ve built together. Their story, as shared in the ceremony, spoke of quiet beginnings, long-distance love, shared adventures, and steady commitment. They’ve already done so much as a couple, from buying a home to facing life’s ups and downs as a team. Their marriage wasn’t about starting something new, but deepening something already strong and full of care.
